Aircraft Planning and Document Specialist
Job Description:

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

Under close supervision, this position is responsible for creating, managing, and organizing all maintenance-related documentation within the organization. This role involves ensuring that detailed records are accurately maintained for aircraft, component, support equipment, and maintenance activities. Participates in keeping operations running efficiently by ensuring that maintenance tasks, procedures, and schedules are properly documented and accessible.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Through analysis of completed work documents, ensure that all work directed, has been accomplished and certified in all respects and that applicable changes and bulletins have been incorporated.
  • Managing documentation related to preventive maintenance, safety procedures, and equipment lifecycle.
  • Must be aware of the importance of correctly transcribing information into the electronic record keeping system, which may ultimately affect the airworthiness of an aircraft. Omissions and inaccuracies may create dangerous or questionable conditions necessitating expenditure of numerous man-hours to correct or prove entries, or if not corrected or proven could mean the loss of life and aircraft.
  • Collaborating with maintenance teams to document repair activities, upgrades, and modifications.
  • May evaluate existing job sequencing to verify that resulting work will ensure safety consistent with government and company requirements.
  • May participate in the testing of tools and materials to determine if they meet specifications and shop requirements.
  • May conduct routine technical training and debrief aircrew as required.
  • Maintains all technical documents and records including maintenance plans, Job Control Numbers, historical documents, aircraft files, Time Compliance Technical order (TCTOs) folders, engine records, and procedures.
  • Coordinates maintenance flying schedule; debriefs and schedules discrepancies.
  • Coordinates aircraft maintenance in accordance with established procedures and timetables.
  • Participates in the development of weekly schedules for home and deployment locations.
  • Coordinates transfer and acceptance inspections; ensure all required checks are performed and documented.
  • Schedules and monitors TCTOs, one-time inspections, time change items (TCIs), and special inspections.
  • Orders TCI replacement part through Military Supply channel. Not Military instead SGSS (GA-ASI).
  • Manages User accounts within the database.
  • Creates and tests User Work Instructions for database Users.
  • Defines warehouses for program customers within the database.
  • Participates in status meetings, document reviews and scheduling programs.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to maintain a productive and safe working environment in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Additional Functions Other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires education or formal training equivalent to the completion of a two-year technical degree or trade school equivalency. Equivalent professional or military experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • Must demonstrate a basic understanding of aircraft planning, scheduling and documentation principles, theories and concepts.
  • Must possess:
    • basic knowledge of Federal Airline Regulations, Department of Defense, Airworthy Directives and Airworthy Releases;
    • ability to monitor and update plans, documents, files and schedules;
    • familiarity with industry requirements and company policy and procedure;
    • organization skills to maintain flow of work within the unit;
    • good analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to accurately interface with internal and external customers, contractors and aircrew and train and debrief as required;
    • the ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information; and
    • basic knowledge of computer operations and applications and word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Must have experience with an Electronic Record Keeping System and/or a Maintenance Management System.
  • Experience with MRO, Supply chain or maintenance tracking software e.g.; Naval Aviation Logistics Command Management Information Systems (NALCOMIS), Naval Tactical Command Support System (NTCSS) Optimized Organizational Maintenance Activity (OMA), Catalog Ordering Logistics and Tracking System (COLTS), ULTRAMain, GOLDesp, ILIAS or Ramco.
  • Must demonstrate an in-depth understanding of aviation maintenance principles, concepts, regulations and practices.
  • Must be able to understand new concepts and apply them in an evolving environment.
  • Travel required in order to support Customer warehouse setups
  • The ability to work both independently and in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required.
