Summary  

• Perform point-to-point wiring of cabinets, chassis, panels, cable installation, and full flight simulator systems wiring on board and off board, installing, and securing cabling under raised floors and up on ladder racks. Building of complex cable assemblies.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for all the wiring in a full motion aircraft simulator that is built for the military. This is a hands-on working position; it is not only a bench job. 

• Assist with the selection of wires, specific colors, spaning or length and looping wires between guide pegs on harness board and follow color-coded lines or sequence numbers on board or diagram. 

• Assist with wire measurements, cutting, and wire spaner installations and wire terminations in accordance with the wire list and workmanship standards. 

• Assist with wire installations in cabinets, and trainer system wiring. 

• Assist with connecting component lead wires to printed circuit assemblies or route and connect wires between individual component leads and other components, connectors, terminals and contact points. 

• Perform wire continuity verification using continuity tester. 

• Assist with work assignments from trainer system hardware logs. 

• Assist with the selection and installation of cable harnesses and cable clamps.  

• Cable tie harnesses and assists with wire routing, lacing and layout. 

• Assist with other trades when needed and trouble shoot and solve problems with technicians and/or project engineers. 

• Assist in loading and unloading trucks. 

 Qualifications and Education Requirements  

• High school diploma or GED. 

• One year certificate from college or technical school; equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred 

• Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in wire installation and termination 

• Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in soldering 

• Must be able to obtain a US Passport 

• Must have basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical hand tools and be able to effectively use them (wire strippers - manual and pneumatic, crimpers - manual and pneumatic, hand cutters, heat gun, insertion and extraction tools, hot air sleeve solder gun, soldering iron, wire wrap tool, continuity tester, tape measure, ribbon cable connector assembly tool, etc.) 

• Basic understanding of military and commercial workmanship standards 

• Must be willing and able to assume work assignments away from the facility for extended periods of time for site installations and be willing to work rotating shifts and overtime as needed. 

• Must have aptitude for learning how to work from wire lists, assembly drawings, schematics, engineering orders, engineering change orders, engineering logs, workmanship standards and manufacturing procedures / work instructions. 

• Must obtain, at company’s expense J-STD-001 Soldering certification, IPC/WHMA-A-620 requirements for the manufacture of cable, wire, and harness assemblies’ certification, forklift certification. 

• Basic computer skills are required for time reporting and work order processing. 

• Ability to learn and gain proficiency with creation and application of wire or harness identification labels.  

• Ability to learn and become skilled in performing error free lug and contact pin crimping operations. 

• Ability to learn and gain proficiency in the fabrication of complete cable assemblies per wire lists. 

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  

• Ability to write simple correspondence.  

• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations with other employees of the organization. 

• Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. 

• Ability to perform work assignments with minimal supervision. 

• Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out detailed written and/or oral instructions.  

• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. 

Security Responsibilities  

Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures.  Personally responsible for proper spaning and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval.  All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.   

•  Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.  

Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

Physical Demands  

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   

• Must be comfortable working at heights on ladders, scissor lifts, boom lifts, scaffolding and on top of trainers while using proper fall protection when required. 

• Must possess manual dexterity and excellent hand eye coordination. 

• Ability to stand or sit over 1/3 of the time or walk under 2/3 of the time. 

• Use hands to finger, handle, or feel over 2/3 of the time. 

• Reach with hands and arms over 2/3 of the time. 

• Climb or balance on an approved safety ladder under 1/3 of the time.  

• Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl under 1/3 of the time. 

• Talk or hear 1/3 to 2/3 of the time. 

• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds over 2/3 of the time. 

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds 1/3 to none of the time. 

• Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less, Jaeger 1 of .50 mm letters &64; 14” or better). 

• Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more, Snellen Chart 20/50, or better). 

• Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors). 

• Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus). 

• Must have ability to travel CONUS/OCONUS approximately 50 of the year, sometimes with very short notice, or from one site directly to the next without stopping home. Most trips average 3-4 weeks for installs, some may be longer, and others may only be 1-2 days. 

• Required to work 60 hours, 6 days a week when traveling. (Mon-Sat), sometimes rotating shifts. 

• Overtime and shift as required
