About the RoleAs an Aircraft Payload Systems Design Engineer, you will lead the design, integration, and validation of structural and interior payload systems for advanced aircraft platforms. Working on-site in San Antonio, TX, you’ll play a critical role in supporting VIP aircraft interior development—ensuring every detail meets the highest standards of quality, performance, and precision.
What You’ll DoIn this role, you will:
Develop, integrate, and document structural and interior payload system requirements
Create and modify 3D CAD designs using tools such as CATIA, ENOVIA, and IVT
Provide shipside engineering support for insulation (blankets), aircraft monuments, and interior modifications
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in insulation design, helping accelerate program deliverables
Support change orders, discrepancy resolution, and drawing revisions in real-time production environments
Lead and support testing and validation activities to ensure systems meet specifications
Collaborate with suppliers, production teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to optimize designs
Participate in emerging technology evaluations for future aircraft interior innovations
Work in hands-on environments, including scaffolding and inside aircraft platforms during active modification phases
Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical field
Typically 9+ years of relevant engineering experience (or equivalent advanced education/experience combination)
Proven experience with aircraft interiors, shipside support, and blankets/insulation design
Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (CATIA, ENOVIA, IVT)
Ability to work 1st or 2nd shift based on production needs
Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.

Pay Details: $76.00 to $94.00 per hour
