As an Optimization & Capability Development Engineer Level I in APU Facility, you will be responsible for providing technical and engineering support in the establishment of the Qatar Airways APU MRO Division and LRU Capability Expansion Program. The role focuses on developing engineering requirements, reviewing designs, coordinating equipment and tooling specifications, and ensuring compliance with EASA Part 145, OEM, and Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) requirements. The Project Engineer will assist in developing the infrastructure, process flow, and capability documentation to support future APU (e.g., Honeywell HGT1700, GTCP131-9A/B) and component overhaul activities, ensuring cost effective and regulatory-compliant solutions.
Operational Accountabilities;
Prepare and review technical evaluation reports for APU facility equipment, Toolings and Capability based on RFPs/RFTs received from OEMs or vendors.
Support the APU Facility Project Manager in defining scope, schedule, cost estimates and engineering deliverables related to APU MRO facility.
Review facility layout drawings, utilities requirements and process flow diagrams to ensure alignment with OEM and relevant standards (AS9110/ISO).
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to: Engineering, Quality Assurance, Maintenance Planning, Facilities, QFZ, CPD, Design Consultants and OEM partners to ensure all technical specifications and regulatory requirements are incorporated in the design and build stages.
Support the preparation of technical documentations including PDRs, CDR, FAT/SAT protocols and commissioning acceptance test procedures for all equipment, machinery and tooling.
Review APU overhaul manuals (IRM/CRM/CMM) OEM SVs and regulatory references to define capability boundaries and tooling requirements.
Participate in technical meetings with vendors, contractors and OEMs to review submittals, design changes and ensure alignment with Qatar Airways MRO division standards.
Support QCAA and EASA regulatory approval documentation, including capability lists, MOE updates and facility readiness checklist.
Create and maintain project risk register, action item lists and activity log list ensuring timely closure and compliance with the overall project plan.
Assist in developing process documentation for APU assembly, disassembly, inspection, testing and accessories/LRU handling as per OEM manuals.
Provide technical support during FAT, SAT and commissioning of specialized equipment (e.g., APU test cells, balancing rigs and LRU benches).
Perform other department duties related to his / her position as directed by the Head of the Department
