The Lead Test Engineer for Tactical Communications leads integration and validation efforts for mission-critical embedded communication systems, ensuring reliability and performance through advanced automated testing and system integration within the Unified Testing Framework (UTF) environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of 3–5 integration and test engineers, ensuring execution of program milestones and technical excellence
- Develop and maintain the overall test strategy for embedded products within the Unified Testing Framework (UTF)
- Architect scalable test automation solutions to validate system and program requirements
- Establish best practices for test automation, continuous integration, and test reporting
- Lead Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs) and internal testing assessments with program stakeholders
- Design comprehensive test plans, procedures, and validation strategies covering full system functionality
- Develop automated test scripts using Python (3.9+) aligned with GDMS coding standards
- Implement robust verification and validation (V&V) methodologies
- Coordinate hardware, firmware, and software integration testing activities
- Define and implement integration procedures to ensure reliable component interaction
- Support Agile development environments and iterative testing cycles
- Produce and maintain test documentation, reports, and validation artifacts
- Track and maintain accurate records of test execution and results
- Develop ROMs in support of requirements execution
- Conduct performance reviews in alignment with organizational processes
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Technology, Mathematics, or related field
- (Master’s degree preferred)
- 8+ years of experience in test engineering, system integration, or embedded systems testing
- Experience leading small engineering teams (3–5 engineers)
- Python programming (object-oriented design and scripting)
- Automated test framework development
- Hardware and software integration testing
- Embedded system testing methodologies
- Experience using RF test equipment such as:
- Signal analyzers
- Signal generators
- USRP (Universal Software Radio Peripheral)
- System verification and validation (V&V) practices
Preferred Qualifications:
- CI/CD (Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment) pipelines for automated testing
- Experience with requirements management and traceability tools
- Embedded systems development environments
- Experience supporting defense, aerospace, or tactical communications programs
- Recognized Subject Matter Expert (SME) in testing, integration, or embedded systems
