HSMC-South is looking for a motivated, strategic and technically oriented candidate to lead the Material Control Laboratory (MCL) team which serves as the homeroom for HSMC turbine airfoils.
This team provides critical services for our operations in East Hartford and Amercon: metallurgical testing of 25 specifications for all engine models produced in HSMC, weld test lab, MCL approvals (ESA, work instructions, shop assist, etc.), source qualification, and metallurgical process control (MPC)
What You Will Do:
- The successful candidate will combine technical experience and an operational mindset to work in the high volume and fast paced environment of turbine airfoils. They will focus on quality customer service by managing dynamic priorities in an operations environment as well as enhancing a positive culture within the team.
- Lead a team of salary and hourly professionals providing production critical services.
- Collaborate with the various engineering and quality disciplines for part qualifications, process improvements, and quality investigations.
- Provide leadership in the companys cultural transformation, employee development, promotion of discipline health and succession planning.
- Partner with OpX to manage capital needs of the lab.
- Utilize CORE tools to strategically improve and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage incoming requests and customer commitments to support expectations.
- Collaborate effectively with operations to ensure consistency in execution and to generate long-term strategies/process improvements.
- Partner with MCL Core and Fellows to grow Discipline Health capability.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- BS degree in Material Science, Metallurgy, or in a related field and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience.
- Requires strong management skills and experience leading multi-department technical team projects.
- Proficient in MS Office.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience and knowledge of MCL processes and procedures.
- Experience with quality management systems.
- Ability to manage supplier oversight strategy and closure of MCL related investigations.
- Knowledge and experience with root cause and process control tools.
- Proficiency in SAP.

For onsite roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
