Job Summary:
 

The Materials & Logistics Manager develops and leads the execution of a supply chain strategy that supports the location(s) objectives for Supplier Quality, Supplier On Time Delivery (OTD), Supplier Lead Times, Material Cost Reduction, and Inventory Reduction. The Materials & Logistics Manager rationalizes the supply base, improves supplier relationships, implements Supplier Agreements, drives increased sourcing from low-cost sources when applicable, leverages the material spend with other Crane Aerospace & Electronics business units and reduces the administrative cost of the Supply Chain Function.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and implement a supply chain strategy that maximizes customer satisfaction through best in class on time delivery, lead time and quality metrics, reduces inventory and delivers the lowest total cost
  • Lead the development of the materials portion of the Annual Operation Plan (AOP) for site, and ensure progress of the plan throughout the course of the year by actively implementing Plan improvements
  • Manage and measure suppliers for continuous performance and improvement
  • Actively champion the Supply Chain and Operational vision and initiatives within the site and with the site’s customers and suppliers
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with other Crane business units in order to improve the overall group performance
  • Lead/participate in Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen events that will eliminate waste and result in significant benefits (Growth, Safety, Quality, Delivery, & Cost) throughout the Supply Chain
  • Provide effective support to new product introduction teams, proposal development, and subcontracting opportunities as they develop
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the personnel in the department including master scheduling, purchasing, materials planning, stockroom, and shipping & receiving
  • Ensure site compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and requirements as pertains to materials and material handling
  • Responsible for Group training (and monthly reporting as required) for SAT, 3PL, 3 in 1’s, Project Deck, and Supply Chain procedures
  • Manage the review, update, and maintenance of equipment and software required to efficiently receive, store and issue materials in support of site operations
  • Maintain and facilitate the accurate control of inventory with Operations, Business, and Finance
  • Support Excess & Obsolete inventory data reporting, disposition, withdrawal, and disposal processes with Finance, Procurement, Business, and Engineering as appropriate
  • Develop, implement, and manage lean material logistic strategies as applicable that optimize the storage and flow of purchased and fabricated materials in support of manufacturing and 
    inventory strategies
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage the performance of physical inventories and/or cycle counting to meet fiscal reporting requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in a Supply Chain related role with 5+ years in a management role; Demonstrated experience implementing lean concepts (Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, 5S, lean processes, Kanban, etc.)
  • Knowledge: Strong knowledge of integrated production and inventory management techniques and processes; Strong Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) knowledge; Knowledge of procurement legal requirements and contracting best practices, global spanet analysis and sourcing strategies
  • Skills/Abilities: Excellent analytical, organization, and planning skills; Demonstrated success developing and executing comprehensive supply chain strategies and action plans; Ability to 
    develop, lead, and motivate cross-functional teams; Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively as part of a team in a matrix organization; Proven ability to develop 
    collaborative relationships & influence up, down and across organizational lines; Strong negotiation and contract management skills; Strong customer service orientation; Proven ability to resolve problems quickly using outside the box thinking and creative problem solving skills; Excellent communication skills (verbal and written); Ability to influence and drive change and accountability; Ability to manage competing interests while maintaining a sense of urgency to meet frequent short timeline, goals, and deadlines; Proven expertise in developing supplier quality systems and supplier performance metrics
  • Education/Certification: BA or BS Degree in Business, Operations Management, or other relevant field
  • Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • APICS and/or ISM certifications

Working Conditions:

  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment
  •  Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE
  • May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes
  • Flexible and willing to work overtime if necessary
  • Standing: 25 *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task
  • Sitting: 75 *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task
  • Lifting (in pounds): Up to 40 pounds
  • Pushing (in pounds): Up to 40 pounds
  • Mental/Visual: Use of Computer and office equipment
  • Workspace: Assembly cell   

Top Benefits:

Salary range: $128,377.60 to $156,624.00. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications.
