The role: Production Planning Manager
Join our Base Maintenance Support Group at British Airways Engineering as an Production Planning Manager, where you will play a critical role in in coordinating the planning and scheduling of maintenance events and delivering a safe, punctual and world-class Base Maintenance operation. This role will lead, develop and motivate a team of technical specialists with capability to deliver a safe and professional engineering operation to defined business and performance metrics, role modelling technical standards, airmanship and collaboration.
This position requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical and forward planning skills, to ensure efficient utilisation of maintenance resources and adherence to regulatory requirements. The Production Planning Manager will be responsible for coordinating and refining group maintenance plans, conducting capacity and demand analysis, and providing recommendations to improve overall maintenance efficiency and effectiveness across the group, ultimately to reduce avoidable delays and costs.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee triaging aircraft at day -7 for both Casualty and Scheduled Maintenance and provide a detailed handover at Day -1 to support production delivery within these areas.
- Develop and maintain forecasting models to predict future maintenance demand and resource requirements across Base Maintenance.
- Provide recommendations for capacity adjustments and resource allocation to meet anticipated demand.
- Prepare detailed reports on maintenance planning performance, capacity analysis, and scheduling optimisation.
- Encourage and coordinate standardised planning processes and procedures across Base Maintenance.
- Collaborate with other Maintenance areas to ensure consistency and accuracy of maintenance data across Engineering.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) applicable to Base Maintenance.
- Identifying continuous improvement opportunities and contributing to a safe, secure, and effective Engineering operation at LHR.
- Stay up to date on industry best practices and emerging technologies related to maintenance planning and scheduling.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Demonstrable structured leadership or equivalent experience
- An Engineering Degree, or other suitable qualification, or Aircraft Maintenance Licence or suitable experience.
- Undertake and pass a medical assessment.
- A responsible attitude towards safety and security in a demanding environment (Essential)
- Operationally focussed (Essential)
