Job Description

The Manufacturing Technician II performs advanced mechanical fabrication and assembly work for aerospace structures using standard hand tools, power tools, and inspection equipment. This mid-level role focuses on precision sheet metal fabrication and structural assembly, following detailed work instructions and blueprints to produce high-quality aircraft and aerospace components in a manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical mechanical work using standard hand tools, power tools, and inspection equipment to fabricate and assemble aerospace components.
  • Operate equipment for sheet metal fabrication and structural assembly, including deburring, hot forming, water jets, and small CNC machines.
  • Assemble aircraft and aerospace components for large structural assemblies in a manufacturing facility.
  • Set up and operate machines and equipment according to established assembly processes and work instructions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, process sheets, and detailed work instructions to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly.
  • Perform deburring, routing, polishing, shear and saw operation to prepare and finish metal parts.
  • Carry out press forming, draw forming, and brake forming operations on sheet metal components.
  • Execute stretch forming, roll forming, and hot forming processes to create precise aerospace structural parts.
  • Check and straighten parts as required to meet dimensional and quality specifications.
  • Support heat treating processes related to aircraft and structural components as needed.
  • Cross-train in assembly and machining to support workforce flexibility and production needs.
  • Handle delicate aerospace components with care and precision to prevent damage and maintain quality.
  • Conduct basic visual and dimensional inspections to verify conformance to specifications and drawings.
  • Accurately complete documentation such as routers, inspection logs, and other production records.
  • Troubleshoot basic mechanical and assembly issues and escalate more complex problems when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with safety protocols and company standards.
  • Work collaboratively with team members on day or night shift to meet production schedules and quality goals.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience performing mechanical assembly and production work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency using standard hand tools and power tools for mechanical and structural assembly.
  • Ability to set up machines and operate equipment used in sheet metal fabrication and structural assembly.
  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical assembly processes, including aircraft or aerospace assembly.
  • Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills for mechanical and structural components.
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions, process sheets, and technical drawings with high accuracy.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for mechanical and assembly processes.
  • Capability to perform visual and dimensional inspections using appropriate inspection equipment.
  • Attention to detail and precision when handling delicate aerospace components.
  • Commitment to following safety protocols and maintaining an organized work area.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with aircraft assembly, aviation structures, or aircraft mechanical work.
  • Familiarity with deburring, routing, polishing, shear and saw operation for metal parts.
  • Experience with press forming, draw forming, brake forming, stretch forming, roll forming, and hot forming.
  • Exposure to heat treating processes for aircraft or structural components.
  • Experience in working with airframe or structural aerospace parts.
  • Ability to cross-train and work in both assembly and machining areas.
  • Comfort working from process documentation, routers, and inspection logs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively within a production team.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing facility focused on aerospace structural components and assemblies. You will work with sheet metal fabrication and structural assembly equipment such as deburring tools, hot forming equipment, water jets, small CNC machines, presses, brakes, stretch formers, roll formers, and various hand and power tools. The position offers two primary shifts: a day shift running Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and a night shift running Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and adherence to established processes, with steady workloads and collaborative teamwork. Typical manufacturing attire and appropriate personal protective equipment are required to perform the work safely and effectively.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tulsa, OK.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $23.00/hr.
