Your main tasks & responsibilities
As head of Flight Operations, ultimately responsible to the Accountable Manager, you ensure a safe, regular, economic and customer-oriented operation of the Brussels Airlines Shorthaul and Longhaul fleet. You take the prescribed training and operational standards developed in cooperation with the responsible functions of Brussels Airlines into account.
- Safe, reliable, economical and customer-oriented operation of the short haul and long-haul fleet and crew, in accordance with conditions and restrictions of the Air Operator Certificate and in compliance with the applicable requirements.
- Deputy accountable manager for Brussels Airlines.
- Implementation of legal/ air-traffic requirements as well as LH-Group standards.
- All operation relevant preparation, negotiation and closing of collective labor agreements and other agreements with unions for Brussels Airlines under the lead of Human Resources department.
- Recruitment and functional/disciplinary management of the leadership team of local cockpit and cabin crew members, determination of needed flight operation staff in cooperation with Crew Rostering Department (e.g. capacity planning) and the Recruitment Department. Close coordination and alignment on processes with the OCC and Crew Watch department.
- Development and alignment of flight operation standards and processes with the LH group departments, functional guidance towards LH group shared services in AOC-relevant matters.
- Communication with Authorities, Associations and Manufacturers (e.g. ensure official occurrence reporting in accordance with (EU) No 376/2014.
- Accountability for regulatory approval processes for procedural changes and technical specifications in the context of flight operations.
- Participation in IRREG / crisis committee; Accountability of Brussels Airlines crisis committee as emergency director.
- Implementation and facilitation of a KPI-based performance management as well as an action driven information flow within Brussels Airlines operations as well as with commercial and administrative departments, AOCs and LHG interfaces.
- Identify and implement emerging technologies and methodologies within the local flight operations department.
- Providing direction and guidance (leading, coaching, and development) for Brussels Airlines employees. Lead trough change and provide emotional stability.
Your profile
- Experience in active service as pilot ( Flight Crew license ATPL (A))
- Minimum 10 years of experience in operational airline functions
- Strong knowledge of EASA regulations, operational standards, and aviation safety practices
- In-depth understanding of the aviation industry, including regulatory frameworks, spanet dynamics, and business models
- Experience with safety and management systems, and a KPI-driven approach
- Proven ability to lead and implement change projects
- Excellent command of English; knowledge of Dutch and/or French is an asset
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated leadership and team collaboration, with the ability to manage resistance and foster a constructive feedback culture
- Strategic and innovative mindset, with a strong focus on cost, quality, and customer satisfaction
